A graduate of the Alberta College of Art and Design, Derryl received a rigorous four-year education in traditional art and design — long before the digital era began. This classical foundation in form, drawing, light, composition, and storytelling deeply informs every piece he creates, even as his tools have evolved.

Today, Derryl’s signature style — Visual Stillness Composition™ — blends traditional oil-wash principles with the precision and flexibility of digital tools, including AI-assisted methods. Rather than replacing the artist, these technologies serve as modern extensions of the brush, guided by a trained hand and a designer’s eye.
